I think the expansion of uranium mining including by the Chinese military industrial complex is the even bigger story in the WA election. And it's a very sad result too. The liars and sleazebags of the nuke industry will be rejoicing as they smear their toxic 'solutions' across the globe.

Suffice to say Bernard Keane is wrong on all counts regarding uranium exports. On this count alone it's a shallow policy: Terrorist bombs are going off in public markets in a country that is supposed to be able to keep this technology out of sinister hands. Talk about suspend disbelief. Even the Australian Cricket Board don't believe it.

I agree almost completely with William Bowe's comments except the role played by the Federal Nats in influencing Grylls decision, or should I say his party room decision. Its obvious the big stick was waved around and with the 3 WA Nats who completely opposed the coaltion with Labor there was no way Grylls was going to go with the Carpenter model. So much for the "I and I alone will decide" virtue exponded by the new power in WA politics. It was all too cosy by half, the public smiling, self assurred Brendan, no sleepless nights, no concerns, completely comfortable with his lot....yea right and Margeret Thatcher was the model for the Mona Lisa. Grylls was rolled by the numbers and the power brokers, what he may have wanted and what he was in a position to get obviously was the latter. Unless of course he was just spinning a line all along, but such a nice lad wouldn'thave done that, would he?
