Glenn: as consistently the chief naysayer on the AFL's decisison to enter these two new markets, are you prepared to put your views on the line with an agreement to say, kiss the West Sydney AFL team's mascot butt for the assembled media, at the end of the first season, if they meet the AFL's projected attendances?

Spot on Glenn.

Demetriou seems to think this will be his great legacy to the game but like Johnny & climate change, his stubborness, arrogance and ignorance of the facts will haunt us all for years to come. No amount of money will turn back 100 years of historical affiliations to the resident code of football. Nor will it make people love a soulless frankenstein beast of a club - it's taken 25 years & $m's for Sydney to become vaguely interested in one team as it is. If they won't watch Sydney play a final, how do they think anyone will watch the West Sydney Whogivesarats play Freo in a home and away game?

Laughably, a whole state that is rusted on Australian Rules wants a team and is treated with patronising contempt by Demetriou. Meanwhile all the other clubs and their supporters are force fed 2 new teams that must be successful to have any hope whilst the poor schleps sell raffle tickets so their teams with 100+ year histories and infinitely greater supporter bases survive. And don't start me on the draft concessions...

"It was a comedy of errors, arrogance and misplaced self-belief that saw just over 19,000 people turn up for the most important AFL game this year in Sydney at the concrete canyon AKA as ANZ Stadium."

I think it may have had more to do with the fact that Sydney was faced with torrential rain, gale force winds and a mighty big cold front. Might be ok for Victorian fans, but this is Sydney after all and the sofa at home was far more appealing.
