I am a Labor voter in Perth and think that the Carpenter government has been very poor (as was Gallop previously) and disappointing. Too much waffle and not enough action. Too many pathetic ministers - Griffiths, Marlboriugh, Kucera (now all thankfully gone), Kobelke, Roberts (unfortunately still with us) etc, who can't make a decision and who have been useless. A Treasurer who sneers at us and refuses to use any 'boom' funds to lighten the tax load or fund services. Carpenter is indecisive, visionless and grumpy. Apart from staggeringly higher prices the boom means nothing to most people. I agree that the Libs won't be any better but the voters are ready to whack the government, especially when Carpenter made the huge mistake of going early. Win or lose Labor should get rid of Carpenter and make Allanah McTiernan leader. I don't always agree with her but she's smart and at least we know exactly where she stands. A better option would be to abolish State Governments altogether but I know that unfortunately that won't happen. Surely he is a little biased in his opinion that "Premier Alan Carpenter is not liked" and that "Barnett is viewed by the community as an experienced parliamentarian with a safe pair of hands". <br /><br />Interesting speculation from a very pro-Liberal man.
