I thought O'Brien did terribly on Tuesday - he's been over the hill for some time. Stupid questions that he puts in a confrontational "tough" way, but miss the point.

On the subject of the economy, I don't think Labor is making much of a difference either way at the moment to be honest! That's why they have to bicker about nothing. Sad thing is they could have done a lot more - if they didn't match the Coalition's $30bn tax cuts inflation would be lower and mortgage-holders wouldn't have to bear the price (mostly) on their own.

Alcopops and LCT are just a side-show but LCT in particular is stupid. If you want to take from the rich, use the tax system. Otherwise you're discriminating against the industry for no good reason, included in that being the local car manufacturing industry which is already on hard times yet is Australia's second largest exporter.

Whilst sick yesterday, suffering from a fever, I decided to watch question time, quite by accident. I was utterly appalled by the constant bickering, both sides accusing each other of trivial things etc etc. No wonder politicians have a bad name in this country - if it’s not Government backbenchers asking the PM to explain just so K. Rudd can look important and like he’s doing a good job, it’s the name calling and bitching and yes - childish behaviour.

JamesK is as one-eyed as his hero, (Vice-Admiral) Nelson, whom went against the conventional tactics of the time in what became known as “The Nelson Touch”, not very different from what today’s political tacticians would call “The Nelson Doctrine”. Although crazy brave, Nelson lost his life which is similar in political terms to burning a leader, thereby giving new meaning to the phrase “light up a Viscount”. The difference is that in the Battle of Trafalgar, Horatio’s backbone was shot through, whereas in the battle for the Liberal leadership, it is Peter Costello’s backbone which has shot through.

I thought Turnbull did well whilst Kerry O'Brien incessantly tried to involve him in a leadership debate.

Nelson was of course correct on Lateline.
We are now in the farcical position of blaming AGW for the problems of the Murray-Darling which suits Wong and Rudd only too well.

Pity O'Brien did not question Turnbull on the Murray-Darling and AGW......now that would have been interesting.
