The abortion debate is dividing both major parties in the Victorian Parliament, and as I recorded in The Age on Monday on September 1 it will also divide the Liberals in Canberra when they have to vote on the Barnett motion on September 17. Getting the paper out on time may fulfill an advertiser's contract but if no-one actually reads the product, perhaps it may finally sink into the bean counter's brains what good journalism is all about.
