Why should a 9/11 protest be a "god help us" moment"? How is this "mythical religious politics"? I suggest that your correspondent comes down from his Darryl Hannah induced fantasies and focus on what is really going on. Nine eleven "truth" is known as that for one very good reason: the official conspiracy theory is so outrageously flawed that anyone with half a talent for looking at evidence rather than a priori assumptions can see it in a moment. Has your correspondent actually bothered to acquaint himself with what the 9/11 truth movement is actually saying? Is he aware of the scientific evidence uncovered by Professor Jones and others revealing the existence of nano-thermite in WTC1, 2 & 7 rubble? Does he begin to understand the basic principles of Newtonian physics? Has the collateral use of military grade anthrax from secret US labs to silence critics of the misnamed Patriot Act penetrated his consciousness?
Instead of being part of the pack mentality of so-called journalism he might actually pause and think about the way 9/11 has been used to justify a host of outrages, including 44 pieces of legislation in Australia alone that effectively destroy many of Australia's cherished beliefs about being a functioning democracy.
Mr Rundle has clearly been in the USA too long when he allows the distraction of B grade moovie actresses to be the feature at the expense of informing his readers about real issues. But then, given the track record of the mainstream media he probably feels himself in good company.
threaded barrels on a rifle... Silencers... With the room-temperature IQs involved, they'd probably forget and use supersonic rather than subsonic rounds. :)

Given this entry, I'll be interested to read Guy's piece when he's been drinking, without sleep, for the full four days of the convention. Hunter S. time is nigh. One of the amazing things about US politics is that the wacky right has far more in common with the wacky left than anyone else. James; lighten up for God's sake.
