I never liked Brendan even as AMA head, but aside from that, he is starting to look like he is going to crack. He gets very belligerent with journalists (who are no doubt bating him) and his sound bites make him look like he should have a vein pulsing in his forehead and a twitch in one eye. He should just calm down and relax, or quit.

Nelson's a sad political figure notably because his weaknesses have surfaced quickly after being shifted into a 'performance' role. These days there are too many political figures eking out average parliamentary careers courtesy of party support, indifferent and biased electorates in the absence of media or outcomes scrutiny? Even Costello has shifted to a public purse bludger with the removal of titles and recognition. Isn't it time to put our elected representatives on individual performance contracts, bind them to Codes of Conduct and rotate them every four years to avoid this Party-Parliamentary arm-chair comfort that removes them from the ordinary workforce. The more realistic we are about MPs and their role, the more credbile they'll be. Anyone who shook Milton Orkopoulos' hand or got a reference from Troy Buswell would rightfully feel uncomfortable - they shouldn't.
