The market is down 58. Poor finish to the week. We have disappointing US employment figures to thank. The Futures were down 82 overnight.

“she clearly has an enormous brain is quite often right about all sorts of things” - yeah we don’t like that.
well, I sure thought she was right about Steve Irwin. As was the Stingray. Oh well - I’ll get flamed for this, but at least I’m not being burnt on a pile of faggots like she is being depicted…
Steve who?
Good one first dog.. Nothing enrages the Australian people more than accurate critical appraisals.. how dare someone like Greer resort to intelligence when criticising our people and society. It’s just not fair!
Good choice of animal too. I think she looks a bit like a Tawny.
Germaine - keep sticking it up their hegemonic rear ends, I say.
I’m in love with Germaine Greer and her brain.
She was great on Q&A last night - grab the podcast if you can. Sheridan: what a joke!
Nice one, First Dog. My sentiments exactly. Inspired casting to secure Carmen for the role. Ms McFlappy faithfully portrayed Ms Greer’s warm, caring, no-nonsense in-your-faceness.
Being a noisy, old, un-Australian mad-woman, she can say exactly what she thinks with that enormous brain, and not have to kow-tow to anyone.
I always listen to what she has to say. Even if I disagree, she says things which are carefully thought out - and worth saying. Unlike so much of the asinine rubbish reported endlessly in print and sound and vision by people who are mainly trying to get off camera without saying something they will later be held to account for.
I consider her out of control & downright embarrassing. Can’t she say a nice thing about anyone? I can’t believe I’m wasting my time on her …
While it’s not hard to see how Germaine Greer irritates many, I blame the Murdoch press. They’ve lead the charge against Germaine over the past few decades, and there’s nothing she likes more than irritating them back. They’ve escalated it to this point. As she said to a Melbourne crowd several months back, if they were fawning over her instead, that would be all most Aussies needed to know she was a total fraud.
I once had the misfortune to hear a 3AW morning talk -back fest when the subject of Germaine Greer was brought up. The sheer, unadulterated and obsessive hatred that came from the 85% of female audience on the ‘phone, was frightening. Obviously they hated her was because she’d chosen a lifestyle completely at variance with theirs. For the only time in my life, I felt the insane hatred depicted in biblical stories where women are stoned by the crowd. The other 10-15% we men. Although they appeared to dislike her a lot (why can’t she be a normal woman sort of cr*d aka why didn’t she stay in her place?) they were patronizing and irritated beyond belief. However, no matter how rude they were being, their voices didn’t come within a bull’s roar of the venom, and as I said to begin with, and utterly vicious hatred of their women.
PS: She was completely right about Steve Irwin. Only the Queenslander’s could have gone so unerringly for the third-rate (Well the Yanks too) He had no real feelings for animals at all. You don’t just barge in on animals and attack their space. He wouldn’t have liked it for himself; why inflict the same behaviour on animals?
