Forget drugs-where is the competition when countries like the USA, Australia, China, the UK etc subsidise their athletes with $millions or a NASA designed swimsuit while athletes from poorer third world countries probably work long hours in some awful job to survive ?.<br /><br />The opening parade of the Olympics says it all-poor African countries are patronised as though they are part of the spectacle when they just aren't. They are there as a backdrop so the rich west can mimic the '36 Berlin Olympics and demonstrate how superior they are whilst giving the pretense of an all inclusive event.<br /><br />Level playing field ?. It doesn't exist. Or do people actually think Tanzania will be given the privilege of hosting this tastless display of kitsch one day ?
