I read Anthony Fraser's article with interest as I too am bemused as to why an election was called one year early . Paul Henderson had effectively got rid of Clare Martin, inherited a quite workable goverment and then proceeded to make the Territory even more laughable than usual.
I lived in the Territory for more than twelve years and still intend to go back there one day. However I left in early 2003 to work overseas, because of people like Paul Henderson who did not have the vision or the dynamism of his predecessors. He introduced cronyism and an incompetence that even the CLP in it's heday of cronyism and incompetence couldn't match. When we got there in 1990 Marshall Perron was Chief Minister and was doing a good job. Shane Stone was very impressive and so too was Denis Burke.
Clare Martin however was outstanding, she brought in a vitality and energy that was unprecedented, we started to think that yes maybe the Territory could go somewhere and be taken seriously.
Now, thanks to Paul Henderson the Territory has taken giant steps backward and can only get worse.

Well, well, what a surprise.

The media/commentariat, generallyl suffering from Sheep's Bum syndrome, got it all wrong again.

My seat of Katherine returned the CLP, represented by a cop found guilty by an internal police investigation of releasing information to his son about a case his son was involved in. Seems like they could have stood a drover's dog.

It's all a bit dismal. Tweedeldum and Tweeduldummer, with Tweeduldummer almost taking control again.

hmphhh....
