Ask the late Peter Andren about redistributions, let alone the late and not missed ex-PM 'Honest' John Howard. Both were victims of pointless redistributions.

It is quite absurd for someone living in Bridgetown, Manjimup, Walpole, Denmark, Albany or Esperance to be voting in an electorate called Kalgoorlie.

The locations could not be more different - cool, rainy southern coastal climates, with the main industries of agricultural & tourism vs hot dry desert like conditions and mining.

I understand the need for such a large electorate in the low population areas - but not with the name Kalgoorlie. It will need to be called something non geographically specific like "Mining & Pastoral" or pick another famous WA politician. We already used up Curtin and Forrest though. Are we ready for the Beazley electorate yet? ;-) Probably doesnt quite fit with the character of the electorate though.

Shane, 'Beazley' sounds most appropriate - very expansive and a bit all-over-the-place! (Sorry Kim!)
