The scary seat was a fold down crew station beside the second main door on the true right hand side facing forward. Inquires show that no passenger seats are directly above the um, seat of the explosion on the main deck. Nobody has been able to produce a guide to the situation in other jets. I have a hunch that the ATSB investigation will come up with some more surprises, and explain why all three ILS or instrument landing systems went off line the moment the pilots heard the explosion.

(PA system): Underware change in row 1, stat.

ILS systems going off-line? Could it be something to do with those pesky cables?

Haven't flown Qantas for a number of years now. This is reinforcement for continuing to fly VB. They may not be better, but then again, we haven't seen the number of incidents that have afflicted Qantas of late.

Makes 007s ejector seat look a bit lame.
Is it just me, or does anyone else wonder why all those cables are not in some sort of protective conduit or something?
Especially as they appear to be in the cargo hold. I'm sure at least one or two of them are rather important.

Yikes. What was that seat number so I can avoid it. What about a list of all the sits located above gas cylinders Ben? Love your work.

Liz
