Serious science has to count for something. So does an election loss. So does '20C man' John Howard belonging back there. So does the shadow of the European re-insurance industry potentially pulling the rug on any SME economy that fails to pull its weight. And yes none of this means China and India are off the hook. It means their changes and our changes must happend just like Ozone Depleting Substances under the Montreal Protocol. Just as the soft power of the buyer's market means China faces tariffs if they don't retool. And anyhow it's f*cking race against time for everyone anyway. Next big cyclone south of Cairns , Brisbane or Shanghai for that matter should just about finish this argument.

Venise, you mention the cr-p written by Bolta well his fellow Liberal Party employee jowells Akerman tried to outdo him in stupidity when mounting yet another attack on the Government. His article on global warming where he used the Bolt angle that so many scientists disagree blah blah blah...totally ignored the Libs current stance on the same subject, the poor fool really has lost the plot.

Dennis:
I agree, absolutely, with what you say. However, unless you have actually read his latest article in the Herald Sun, 30th July 2008, you don't know just how piteous he has become. He does a standard exercise in basic film criticism (CAE year one) to attempt to suggest that ....WAIT FOR IT, drum roll, rat a tee, rat a tee, dum, dum, dum,rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..............
As of today, the prestigious (?)H.S could only field three letters which answered this cr*p. All three told Bolt where to put his article. As in 'up where the sun don't shine'.

Cheers

Venise

PS: after his effort in Crikey, I made a comment about a lady, well before Climate Change had ever bee thought of, had noticed that the winters in England in 1902 were far colder than the winters of 1945. Well,
recently I've been reading my neighbour's copies of the English magazine, 'Country Life'. Each edition carries articles bemoaning the fact English native species of flora and fauna are being adversly affected by the warming of the summers and how all the seasons at at odds with how things were as of 10 years ago. You can imagine how much Andrew Bolt would take note of such evidence! I hope he gets smallpox and an advanced case of AIDS- together.

Cheers again.

V.

CORRECTION: Dr Nelson was asked “Have you been rolled by your Cabinet” by Seven Network’s reporter Mark Riley and it appeared on Seven News, not Nine News as I originally reported. Apologies for misattributing what was the money question of that press conference.

Such is the desolation caused by the vacuum of evil left by John Howard's leadership of the Liberal Party, the Labor Party does not have an effective opposition at all. You make the point that Nelson's 'stand and fail to deliver stance', is a major victory for Turnbull and Hunt. Surely it is a Phyrric victory for the Australian electorate? They (the remnants) are just a bunch of overgrown schoolboys far*ing about with marbles. They do no service to the country at all.

PS: Bernard, did you see that astonishing piece of c*ap written by Andrew Bolt. This time he has fallen so far out of his tree as to become hilarious.

Tell the people of New Zealand who are suffering the second bout of storms, typhoons, flooding and loss of life in a week, there is not climate change. That after suffering the worst summer droughts in memory in usually wet summer areas like the Waikato and Bay of Plenty.

The Party picked the wrong candidate. Perhaps Dr Nelson has hte skills, but he has not demonstrated them.

As I said yesterday, I suspect the party will have a complete reorganisation and restructure - with M. Turnbull as it's Menzian Messiah... or perhaps Krishnamurti...
