Richard McGuire: I seem to remember a man called Joh Bjelke Peterson. If he couldn't -at a Federal level-get within a bulls roar of the finishing post. What chance does this lot have?

Wonder how long this group will last? Given the bloodletting the Liberals endured during the process, those on the losing side may be tempted to establish their own "conservative" entity to battle it out at the next QLD poll - if that happnns, then the ALP will be in power ofor another decade plus. That is of course there is a conservative force left in QLD

"Queenslanders will now have to endure the braying of this two-time loser about "a new Queensland" between now and the next election, and that probably can’t come soon enough."

I'd predict that this will then become three-time loser.

Oh, and Bernard, you were *way* too diplomatic here. Next time, say what you *really* think. :^)

What was once sneeringly referred to as the Pineapple Party by some, mostly southern commentators, may yet become the way of things nationally. Irrespective of which side of the political divide one is on, the inconvenient truth is, that maintaining the status quo had become untenable, with the introduction of optional preferential voting in QLD.
