In this article it is almost mentioned as an afterthought about the damage that Fosamax can do to the jaw, following dental work. Last year I had a couple of teeth extracted, and as a consequence have now developed osteonecrosis of the jaw (death jaw). I had been on Fosamax for over 12 years, more like 15 as I developed quite severe osteoporosis in my early thirties. In USA there are several class actions against Merck Sharpe at any given time. After the extraction of the teeth, when my jaw didn't heal I was sent to a Specialist and he knew straight away what had caused the problem. I cannot believe that this drug is still on the market. Especially on reading there are now other serious side effects. I stopped Fosamax as soon as I was diagnosed and now take an alternate medication.
