Rice, cotton and other water hungry plants best grown in countries with adequate rainfall. Why do governments ALLOW THESE PEOPLE to get away with it? How much money do these people get, as a backhander, from our governments? Why do the smaller farmers allow their union, The Nationals, to work in concert with the big companies and contrary to the farmers interests. If nothing else, surely someone in the country watches ABC TV. Two Men in a Tinny showed us exactly how The Murray was almost dead. Where were the letters and protests by THE FU*KING PUBLIC to say this cannot continue? There are more letters in the media addressing trivialities such as football and celebrities. And the bl*ody royals of a country which has no importance to the our population, than there could ever be about the death of our river. If a miracle should happen, and the poor river should recover, it wont be any thanks to a nation that no longer gives a damn. Chances are the average person wouldn't even know its name.
