Michael Harvey's comments are spot on. We spend billions on wasted law enforcement plus costs to us in additional insurance etc caused through crime with authorities battling the heroin trade-when heroin is a far less harmful drug than alcohol , yet we actually promote this very dangerous drug via sporting events and encourage the use of it. The myth of heroin being the evil it is not-when used in it's pure form in moderate doses yet is the cause of the biggest criminal enterprise in the world is an example of myth making that has governments in it's grip worlwide. A working experiment in the 1960's in the UK of providing free heroin ( at a rediculouslty low cost) worked for several years until gutter tabloids seized upon it as a sensational way of flogging newsprint. Now look at their youth booze bingeing which is out of control-and looks like being replicated here.

Right Geoff Farder. It is Swan's fault that Israel threatened to blow up Iran and pushing the wall street speculations on oil into madness. Right.

Going to Hiroshima is not about f.............g money. It is about the vaporisation of 140,000 innocent civilians in one moment of absolute lunacy.

Who reads editorials anyway?. They're usually written by tossers. About time crikey did some hard work and investigation instead of so much commentary. An important piece of news has escaped every media outlet bar one-The City News, a small Sydney independant newspaper. The ACCC has finally revoked the decision made 15 years ago that gave the Wentworth Courier and Courier Newspapers outrageous and monopolistic leverage over real estate advertising in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney-the most lucrative in Australia. They got away with it for 15 years putting sevral competing publishers out of business. The real question as put by the City News : "how did it get approved iin the first place?". Come on crikey-get cracking.
