A naysayers view no doubting it. However, you're overlooking the simple fact that AFL tests with consumers as the stand-out sporting product in Australian spectator sport. Sure, it'll take time on the Gold Coast & in Western Sydney, but the other football products just don't cut it as a sporting spectacle compared to AFL. Currently, there's underlying support for AFL approaching 70% of all Australia's men, women & children...& it can only grow. When push comes to shove, it's all about product. Rugby league & union are facing bankruptcy, with shrinking support for their respective 'products'. Only soccer has positive appeal, but as a sporting spectator product it finishes well behind AFL. in Oz. Product, product, product.........

Adam,
what on earth is wrong with 22000 members? Are you aware the NRL clubs in Sydney have memberships for 3000-4000 people. With a high ex pat Victorian community, a robust AFL junior development program (6 of the top 30 draft picks came from Bris-Gold Coast region last year), and most importantly an abundance of cash (more to come with the next AFL tv rights deal) , a Gold Coast team that can be called their own then this team cannot fail. As the game grows so will the tv audiences. The Titans despite all their NRL success average less than 20000 people. And the crowds for the Crushers were even less a decade or more ago. AFL games could almost be called off with such a low figure! Never worry about a monster fending for itself Adam.
