I agree the terrorist laws as they are served the public safety in this case. That political interference intervened SEEMS obvious. Recent history revealed the tragic naked public display of Howard’s blatant influence over AFP chief who staring at Howard’s bared and snarling teeth converted an intelligent public comment to a demonstration of what a weak fool he could be. Public safety in one sense was compromised that moment ? till a change at the top occurs? The AFP was a seething stenching pile of infected corrupt ooze (I have investigated other corruption in police forces since) and PM Frazer (i.e. federal politicians knew this) appointed the bruce willis/ superman – Scotland Yards decorated and titled corruption buster of the millennium Wood to commissioner of AFP. He told all. At the end of 6 to 8 months “there are two men I trust” and went on to build a force that I came to admire when I ran into them. Frazer’s interference through proper channels was so valuable (remember Howard was sitting on his lap). Howard’s interference is the sort that turns institutions into cesspits.
