I think Swan probably didn't 'lose' the bizoids, he was quite likely happily giving it to them, post election, post budget. He's strapped in, get used to it, is probably the take home. Carlton, Collingwood, it's all rust belt. Sydney too.

Re the Rugby, I too am a long time fan and whilst TV audiences may be up attendance at the game is down and for Rugby, at least. Clearly the cost of tickets and associated expenses of food and travel do have an ever increasing impact on the appeal and affordability for families of attending a live sporting event. For Rugby what used to be an enjoyable even social experience has morphed into an eight hour marathon, if you go to the game at Telstra Stadium. And the atmosphere at both the SFS and Telstra is non existent and unless you jump out of your seat every time a player has a run you will miss the action, as everyone else in front of you jumps up and you will then be forced to watch the replay on the screen. That is why I think that a lot more people have chosen to cut to the chase and watch the whole game on the TV, either at home or at a pub or club. When lifelong supporters of a code change their viewing preferences regardless of the combination of factors causing such change - watch out all professional sports administrators. Sport used to be fun before it became a business.
