I believe I did once try the Triple Cheese Cajun Fried Onion Potato Bucket, at the Outback Steakhouse in Utah. If I recall correctly (I’m missing a few moments from around the time they hooked me up to the defibrillator), for only 50 cents you can upgrade to a quadruple with bacon, plus free ranch dressing and maple syrup from the Fixin’s Bar, and all the Mountain Dew refills you can imbibe.

Ever the fool we shalt explain such a wondrous funny, thus becoming totally unfunny, sorry - Intro ‘same as it ever was’, famous line from Talking Heads, an offbeat whacky/brilliant pop band from USA (possibly even the ‘Beltway’!? - never mind, no meta explanations please) who specialise in expose of mindnumbing middleclass submission. Perfect cross reference to Guy Rundle stuck, Groundhog Day fashion, in seeming endless reportage of US Democrats/Republicans primaries contest. Hence reference to Guy ‘critter’ eating lethally cholesterol loaded home culture comfort food as displacement activity. 2nd frame loaded with empathy for what Bon Scott/ACDC in Long Way to the Top calls ‘hotel rooms that make you wanna cry’, stuck on tour, cold lonely existence. Appearance of alien like cuttle fish is pure whimsy (?) emblematic of beautiful strangers we will never know. 3rd frame - gets so bad, out of body experience of death. Schadenfreude, he died, we didn’t (Those Germans and their tricky emotional lexicon: warning meta analysis http://www.reference.com/browse/wiki/Schadenfreude). Frame 4: Sublime red and gold, cartoonist is getting over recent bereavement. Indeed Guy cartoon character’s death is a proxy for real pet cat’s death expressed here, conveying, well damn everything - acceptance, trauma, happy memories, other evil realities of life eg death, Howard, moral risk of other brave non conformists going to hell too (like cartoonist reflecting on mortality) etc. Or maybe it’s just groovy fire like a campfire is better than tv? One feels this cartoonist is moving up another level of Leunig style spirituality. Very fine. As Jose Gonzales would say ‘don’t let the darkness eat you up’!
