While David Hand points out there is cause for us to be concerned over a possible attack , the handling of the Dr Haneef case demonstrates that the very people who are meant to protect us not only incompetant but Hand inplies they should be forgiven for being the bozos they are. It is clear from reading the original transcripts of Haneef's questioning published in the OZ ,released by his lawyer ,that the AFP personnell don't even have a bloody clue who the enemy are or even knowledge of the various permutations of the myriad of small groups that go to make up the so-called terrorist threat. What has Keelty been doing with all those millions handed over by the Howard government ?. Certainly not training AFP personnel in intelligence matters correctly. It's time for a complete overall of all of our protective services (including the AFP )which should have happened when they either fed Howard false information on Iraq or he made it up himself.

" London plot foiled a few days earlier were carried out by doctors. Dr Haneef is a doctor" -
Monkeys have two legs, David Hand has two legs ergo David Hand is a monkey?

David Hand, you are typical of the whiney stupid people in this country. A distant cousin of Dr Haneef's self-immolated 12,000 miles away from here and you think Dr Haneef should have been tortured for it?

Life does not work that way and hopefully never will. As four federal court judges stated, guilt by minor association is not a viable defence by the Feds. and never will be.

The bottom line for all of us is that Haneef was known to be innocent.

Let's hope that David Hand never gets arrested when there is no evidence of his wrong doing and merely guilt by association; and to hell with the rule of law and such minor details as evidence.
Talk about a slippery slope!

To the dynamic duo ,John and Marlin, have you two met, are you dating? I respond merely for fun as clearly logic and fact could never sway either of you from your obtuse views. So here goes; but first John, a small housekeeping matter, I assume that you are calling for a complete OVERHAUL and not a complete overall, in your comment. And Marilyn your comment of "typical of the whiney stupid people in this country" WOW now here is a consumer demographic that has to date eluded the marketers and can I assume that you do not regard yourself as one of that group? Are there no mirrors in your house?
Bur seriously, regarding Haneef all I ask is can anyone name another country apart from Australia, where an accused is investigated and released when found to be not guilty? I think that Haneef was lucky that he was arrested here and not in some other country and pity the Aussie who is so accused overseas. Mistakes are often made how they are admitted and rectified is the measure of a system

The West:
Robert Taylor, state political editor for The West Australian, "Dear Sir, rumours in Crikey of my resignation are greatly exaggerated. I have not resigned, I'm quite happy writing for the State's best newspaper ..." So is he staying with The West or has he taken up a writing role somewhere else and is going to write for the State's best newspaper? Colour me confused.
