The ACCC is an absolute disgrace that is in dire need of major reform. Under Samuels the staff have become conceited and condescending jackasses who bully and intimidate complainants who rightfully challenge the validity of the decisions made by the ACCC. In one case I'm aware of the SME complainant had received unanimous advice from 5 independent lawyers that they had been significantly disadvantaged as a result of a larger business's absolute disregard for the TPA. The ACCC staffer’s response when asked why the ACCC had failed to identify the breaches was a glib "maybe I'm just smarter than the lawyers who gave the opinion". Samuels must go and a big broom through the ACCC needs to follow his departure.

Having had the pleasure of conversation with Phil Burgess on a numbr of occasions, I believe that the Rudd Government could do Australia a service by making use of his considerable knowedge while Dr. Burgess remains in Australia. Mr. Samuel has shown on many occasions that he has a serious bias against Telstra and it is to be hoped that when his contract expires in June Senator Conroy lets him depart.

Notice Samuel popping up at every opportunity? Promoting fuel watch when there is a new specific ACCC Commissioner to do that; promoting a child safety DVD when there is a Deputy Chair with consumer credentials to do that; all in the interest of getting himself in the Government's good books.
Samuel silenced his Deputy Chair, and slagged off at Telstra at every opportunity, why should he be reappointed?
