The sorry stupid incident triggered a memory of a joke from my early years in a distant century and a country NSW high school, which went something like this: 'A man who sniffs ladies bike seats is a poon'. OK, so whats a harpoon? 'A man who sniffs ladies bike seats, straghtens up and goes 'Haaaah'. Snedger? We don’t have to go to Ireland for a word. Poon is more about the sniffer and the act of sniffing than it is the subject sniffed, and could be used to describe the foul act in question. In the manner of reporting political sensation it lends itself to the descriptor 'Poongate'. And in a similar vein, the Western Australian Buswell could be termed a 'Poongroper'. When returned, Queen was ordered to pay for all the seats as Halfords wouldn't accept them knowing what they had been used for."
