I agree. I'm very pleased by this ruling, it goes to show that there are still a few authority figures in our justice system who are competent and in touch.

Hooray for common sense! They should have been let off with a warning!

The sad thing about this though is that the police could be so easily fooled.

Two things. First my feeling is that a sharp shooter always had their cavalcade in view, whether a benign or hostile over sight. Chief Commissioner Scip hinted as much at the time. I have no doubt personally they would have taken the shot if the earpiece had so instructed. But also secondly that week was very taut politically. Howard was banking on a G20 style F*CKUP which to be fair was a pretty good gamble on his part. It would have dovetailed perfectly for his tub thump run to the vote. But JH, it was not to be and the Chasers indeed played their role as official jester as did amazingly Miranda Devine's Sunday front page scorcher. As did many little folks like moi. Also having been arrested many times previous, no convictions, I was surprised to walk ten feet from the Intercontental front door with all the other tourists up from Circular Quay. So much for all the hyperbole and wire barricades. Thanks Chas et al for keeping democracy going there. Heaps brave
