No-one else seemed to notice. But Rodney in Glen Waverley rang Crikey with the tip. Ian Thorpe, having lit the cauldron, later accidentally put it out. Watch the Channel Nine footage and judge for yourself. None of the commentators seem to notice as Thorpe sheepishly looks around for some assistance before finally being aided by the trusty flame attendants. Oops.

I liked it when Ian got a greenie posture for a while there post retirement from Big Sport. Serves me right I suppose when he made a Olympics Inc plea to take the human rights protest somewhere else late yesterday. Hated it. So this little stuff up is a consolation I guess. Come on Ian. It’s an ecosystem mate - it’s all connected. Human rights, big sport, China Inc, free speech. Life is not laps for the Da Man. Loosen up bud!
