The man was a fighter pilot engaged in bombing and killing Vietnamese civilians. Nothing heroic about that. He was shot down and spent five years as a POW. During that time he was known to the Vietnamese as "songbird" because of his willingness to answer the Vietnamese interrogator's questions, all of which was recorded by a Russian agent. Those documents were later provided to the CIA providing rich source material to compromise a McCain presidency. Alexander Cockburn in the latest Counterpunch calls him the most dangerous man yet so close to the presidency. So enough of the "hero" worshipping and tell it like it really is.
