Was it management pressure wot done it? Or just a sudden burst of common sense? Either way, we applaud the outcome: it seems that embattled Age editor Andrew Jaspan has decided to tone down his 2020 summit involvement, from workshop participant to simple observer. This is precisely as it should be, and a tip of the hat to Mr Jaspan for seeing sense. Now if he could just stand up to his paper’s commercial partners and stop taking Ron Walker’s phone calls, serious journalism in Victoria would get quite a leg up. |
