One issue of significance is that Tattersalls and Tabcorp handed over control of the self-exclusion process to the AHA. Whatever may be said about the efficacy of the scheme as administered, in handing this area over, Tatts and Tabcorp: (1) lowered their perceived value as gaming machine operators, (2) set up the AHA in a regulatory capacity in the gaming machine area, and (3) enabled the AHA to develop credentials in regulating problem gambling, an issue of great concern to the government.

So it appears that local pubs are now going to go the way of the local service stations, one of the last bastions of private enterprise. Now unable to survive on their core business as they are raped by a corporate preditor along with being strangled by red tape which usually involves another licence fee paid to the various layers of Government. ,
In this case it appears, that again, it Is the mums and dads superanunation funds, that will take another hiding!
When will Governments and big end of town understand that it life for most of their customers do not enjoy the annual double digit income that their businesses demand in profit.
I respectifully suggest they stick to thier own core business and apply the 80: 20 rule that 80% of your business comes from your exisiting customers and maximise that.
Shame on you Woolworths for being the largest owner of poker machines it makes a mockery of Fresh Food People.

Sovereign risk my butt. The licenses they had were explicitly time-limited, not indefinite, and to act as if they weren't is just special-pleading.
