I love your acceptance of mythology, Stephen. Not everyone lost, if only because most shareholders acquired their shares at much less than current "market price". In addition, the share market, like every other market, is a "virtual entity", to use current terminology (we make them up) - something that will upset "market theory economists" , I hope. If people buy and sell shares, they will need to accept the inherent risks; if they "invest" (gamble) on the eternal existence of golden geese, underwritten by the community, they will probably lose in the long run. If a community (we hope through a truly representative government) chose to withdraw, or in this case not renew, the licence of a monopoly, duopoly or oligopoly, they have a entitlement to that course - that is one of the characteristics of licences. If the existing arrangements appear to be to the detriment of the community, any government would be obliged to take such a course.

Mayne - wrong again. Laura Tingle made it abundantly clear that Milne's hatchet job was his alone - he had the information already and dined with his wife with the Treasurer. I find it hilarious that this item follows the Beacher lead about journalism - you are getting worse at it day by day.
