A wonderful tribute to John Button, a man whose courage, foresight , perseverance and charm, enabled Australian's to swallow that bitter free trade pill for which we now reap healthy benefits. Thank you Paul Keating as always for your insightful tribute.

If there is such a thing as a 'real' loss I am left wondering what a fake loss is? Perhaps the most recently departed PMs of Australia?

Whilst I did not personally know this man. I believed him to be the sort of guy that could remain calm, see reason and solution whilst those around him were loosing their way. I read one of his books and found that he had a dry but alluring wit. A little bloke with a big heart and sound mind. A good reason for why we should adopt cloning.

Why aren't there more politicians like him?
