To Jennifer I say "well said". I'd prefer the AMA was referred to as a plain old Union however. Members first, not consumers is their oath.

Agreed Jennifer but the whole 2020 thing is elitism on stilts anyway. The AMA, and most of those who are attending, already have the ear of government. Much better to have had a random selection of Australian citizens and thereby get to the voice of the voiceless. Sorry, what a silly old fashioned democratic idea in this age of technocracy.

As an AMA member I find this view of our organisation as some sort of Leviathan completely laughable. Our resources are barely the size of the Australian Greens.

Hear, hear Jen...and so say all of us...the fact that the AMA are generally so vociferous against anything that would alter the status quo simply confirms in most consumers' minds their gross hubris and self-centredness. The fact that the doctor's union places themselves above those who they swore to care for makes their avowal of the Hippocratic Oath more like out-and-out hyprocrisy. The Three Musketeers' motto sits very well with the AMA!

Excellent Jennifer.
The AMA is a leader component of the ‘Medical Profession’ and lives in/for Self Interest Rd, Ludditesville projecting a perception onto the society manufactured from the gathering of the genuine glow from the eclectic individual talents of members and generic brilliance of medical science.
And there’s much worse, State Medical Boards, who live in Miller’s Salem & witch hunting is the main sport and the arrogance of their self righteousness and self importance leads to complicit acceptance (if not actual generation) of evidence not acceptable any elsewhere since Miller’s Salem for its corrupt potential operating best with a unique sensitivity to status of its professionals (granted by the profession itself) that brings on sphincter tightening able to affect brain & bowel function.
Our smart new government must have got ‘wind’ of this and has developed a new vision for registration bodies (Boards) which sent the AMA screaming loudly enough to influence the former
