It is disappointing that that Crikey allows itself to be used by lobbyists, as has occured here. Firstly, she assumes that the label will be like old-style text ones which were deliberately designed by the alcohol industry to be ineffective.

Time to scrutinise the impact of mixers on drinking habits, particularly of the young imbiber. "Kids" usually don't like achohol, per se, but mix it with Cherry ripe, Cola etc and they will drink it all day; and do.

Time should be up for mixes!

Secondly, she creates a straw man by pretending that labelling is going to be the government's sole response. To top it off, she downplays the problem by arguing that overall teenagers drink less than adults - a totally irrelevant non-sequitur.

The thing with warning labels on alcohol is the fact that nobody would be particularly like a warning label like cigarettes have. A group of well-dressed businessmen at dinner don't want a picture of a rotting liver on their bottle of Don Perignon, and they will have more political clout than the average concerned parent anyway.

yeah, reads as too slick for safe analysis. But I did read it as a good indicator the grog pushers are feeling some pressure, while still dominating the PR with full page retail liquor adverts in SDT and even sherry sipping Grand Old Lady SMH today 27/3
