Maybe PT can try cross cultural negotiation on diplomatic access, declared or otherwise? Private farm/native title right to quiet enjoyment is valid, free press/speech is valid too. Warren should mail the Walkley back post haste, with an Easter egg.

Aboriginal land is private property - journoes can’t walk into your kitchen, or that of a cattle station, to “open it up”, just ‘cause they feel like it.Aboriginal people don’t enter others’ land without permission - we should have respect and do likewise

I am a journalist. I am an MEAA member. I respect native title. If journos are to be exempt from the permit system (though I don’t think we should be), then I support a conduct code. The MEAA should accept Toohey’s returned Walkley with alacrity.

He is right to hand it back, and one would hope if he is a member of the MEAA that he resigns that too. The MEAA is irrelevant as a representative body for journalists, is affiliated with the ACTU and any journalist worth a pinch should not be there.

Can we please distinguish between ‘principal’ and ‘principle’?? I ask students to read Crikey to expand their awareness; their spelling is bad enough already without this pernicious error! (right in intro, wrong twice in article)
