Why don't you try raising the funds yourself, rather than relying on taxpayers? Perhaps try something small that finds an audience and then provides a surplus to invest in the next project and move on from there?

I was at the Archibalds when Morris Iemma announced this grant and when he was introduced by Edmund Capon there wasn't one clap and severel boos. Alternatively when it was announced that Peter Garrett was in the room he received a rousing cheer !

I'm not sure why Garrett received such a rousing cheer. All he has done since his appointment is remove money from the arts from all sectors.
He and Rudd seem more in line with Iemma than any other ALP Government as far as I can see.

Some of the money going into Eveleigh - like the $1m compensation for CarriageWorks reported in the Departments Annual Report because Frank's Redfern Waterloo Authority is running late - see Courier article on www.redwatch.org.au/media/080312cenc/
