about a draw in terms of merit and spin? If anything the high spirit of the Tories at their ‘clever’ stunt must have helped the weak morale, while the public surely preferred ltd PR of a working pollie at the coalface re Ruddster out west NSW.

The cardboard Kevin did look more prime ministrial than any of the rabble sitting behind him. The farcical confected outrage of the day (Hockey seemed torn between wanting to hit somebody or collapsing and weeping in a corner) stunk of desperation.

Right , Coalition attempts to portray EXTRA sitting days as “an affront to democracy” or whatever are just a little rich, especially given Downer’s no-show during QT, when convention really does dictate that everyone should attend. It’s not gonna wash.

So last Friday’s contempt for parliamentary procedures and the Speaker by the Opposition is all Labor’s fault, eh Bernard? In fact it should be a salutary reminder that the “born to rule brigade” will stop at nothing to regain government, as in 1975.
