Never mind about conservative commentators “tearing apart” conservative parties. There is a well written column in todays AFR by Mark Latham describing the problems unions are causing “sleepy” Iemma. Those Liberal adds weren’t shy off the mark!

The so-called conservative commentators in the press, strangely enough, tend to be highly educated and politically experienced individuals. The left wing commentators of ABC radio have few if any such credentials, yet they pontificate daily, not weekly.

Silencing the right wing wackos does seem to fly in the face of free speech.
But having Albrechtsen, et al, say sorry for being so wrong so often wouldn’t go astray.
But anyway, we need to laugh now and again and Janet has given more laughs than most.

The problems with commentary in the major Australian papers goes deeper than the predominance of right wingers such as Bolt and Henderson. There is a lack of fundamental knowlege in many areas and an unwillingness to even approach discussion on others.

The left? How credible and who are they? Conservatives won the ideolgical war Rudd is not only one fiscally. Politians know our inherent mistrust of loony ‘social engineers’ and ‘reformists’. Whitlams dead hand still haunts the collective memory.
