Worst Crickey yet. China is bureaucratic/nationalistic to their detriment. Doesnt mean we should be. Please give me a logical reason why Rio shouldnt accept money from them. Will stick to the Economist for anything vaguely economic/business related.

Stephan, could not agree with you more. Our generation has sold off most of the family silver and the NSW govt are at it again with the electricity supplies. When you have no assets left - what do you sell then?

I agree with Stephen & Di. This is only the tip of the iceberg. Are the “free trade agreements” as fair to our farmers as they are to European farmers who get govt subsidies & sell their products here, tariff-free, but our farmers get no subsidy at all?

Its a great and natural sentiment. Only some of us had it a long time ago when the game was being set up against us. Now we’re shafted by the US FTA(free trade)-its our pollys who sell us out and we haven’t got it to stop them. I’ll fight but its too late

What about the big picture? If you take the top 20 corporations in Australia and look at their list of top 10 shareholders, you will discover that the biggest shareholder in aggregate for these Co’s is - the JP Morgan Chase Bank of NY. Check that out!
