Chris I hope Kevin Rudd gets you to write the Apology. Include the word ‘Genocide’ .Tell it like you believe it was and is! Dreamtime! I would love to see the debate in parliament thereafter. Unfortunately, Kevin was obviously dropped on his head as well.

Absolutely, Vicki. I have a friend who was a social worker and he tells me that it was Government policy to remove ALL half-caste children from their indigenous families, not just those at risk. Well into the 1970s, BTW, which is “our” generation, guys.

Chris, you stated the reality clearly &concisely. If we don’t have to apologise to aboriginies because it was an earlier generation that caused the problem, then the Japanese should not apologise to comfort women; Germany should not apologise to Jews etc

Now is the time. We can afford to compensate our aboriginal citizens for their suffering (no one denies that they have suffered). Will it really help them? Well, nothing we’ve tried so far has done a great deal of good. Justice before progress.

To add to Chris’ last comment - JJs view is also very ignorant of the reality of the history. Fascism and eugenics were not confined to Europe in early C20th and the removal of Aboriginal children was part of a final solution for a whole race of people.
