Mmm. Tell us what you really think there Greg …last para was a doozy. Perhaps the greater truth is that Bradman was true reflection of Australians, white and bigoted too much. No Waitangi Treaty, terra nullius here, assimilationist. A man of time/place?

Fair point. Hillary was a true collosus, a source of great pride to every New Zealander and an inspiration to all on our planet for conquering earth’s highest summit and improving so many lives through his generosity. Lucky Kiwis for having a real hero!

Fair point Greg, I agree we celebrate the less savoury or trivial persons over some of the more substantial contributors. Perhaps as we move out of this awkward adolescent phase we might see fewer Ned Kellies and Warnies being hailed as all time heros.

I reflected on just this point when Hillary died, who are our great Austarlains. Don’t forget the gusshings over Kerry Packer, a great business man yes a great man I don’t think so. Is James Packer any different, once again I don’t think so.
