Why is it always an argument about feds or states spending our taxes. Instead of giving the money to bureaucrats to spend give it back to the tax payers. Have a look at http://www.onlineopinion.com.au/view.asp?article=6741 to see another way.

Christian Kerr's comments are becoming more notable for their shallowness and shillness which I hope is only because of the silly season and not his incipient conservative views of politics in general though after reading this effort I suspect the latter.

Australia virtually invented career politicians; now we reap the benefits resulting from their first priority being to keep their jobs (just like career journos, it doesn't matter how silly as long as people read it) and any change is risky so avoid change. Give back to those responsible for providing services the responsibility for raising the necessary, as they see it, finance to do so - if they underfund (as opposed to merely misallocating), then they wear the blame and have the means to rectify their errors. As for Kevin Cox's contribution, it just proves that non-career journos can also be silly.
