“He came, he saw, he helped to save the planet.” Not a bad epitaph, and one that Al Gore might humbly argue. But for now, the former next US president will need to content himself with a Nobel peace prize shared with the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The award was accepted in Stockholm yesterday, with Gore delivering a 22-minute lecture on the work still to be done in the battle against climate change. Now THAT”S a victory acceptance speech. A must watch, standing ovation at the end. As you watch Chubby Al you can’t help thinking he’s a metaphor for western society seriously needing a diet. It’s going to be painful. And very unlikely like Chile ‘72(!).
Surely he accepted the award in Oslo, not Stockholm?
