Concepts such as markets, Adam Smith’s invisible hand, allocation of scarce resources etc are centuries old and weren’t invented by govts or economic rationalists. This essay is utopean theorising. Any practical ideas?

What Eva tackles here is the socio-economic-values framework government can help create and enable a civil society to re-energise. The election result for many was about wanting contemporary community/ies and not endless consumerism.

What is inappropriate job seeking? Why do socialists demand that the majority pay for indulgence of minority? People have an obligation to seek employment instead of welfare. Inappropriate jobs implies job snob. It’s OK but not when at other’s expense.

Contrary to David Hand’s implications many of Eva’s issues would be addressed if the economic rationalists acted on all of “the wealth of nations”. Adam Smith demanded fairness and morality in trading which today have been largely forgotten.
