The old ASCII smiley face is much sneered at, but this little episode demonstrates yet again what a useful tool it can be to avoid ambiguity in e-mail communication. Had Overington only included one in the incriminating e-mail, there’d be no story.

MS glosses here a bit? Did CO offer an inducement of p1 for an electoral preference to Turnbull, or not? People go to gaol for similar. The Oz also tried to cook their ‘news limited’ in 2000 post Olympics to keep a stadium on public Bondi Beach. Mmm
